Recruiting  Associates  New Associate Training
Miller & Chevalier believes that meaningful training is an important aspect of professional development, and we therefore dedicate significant resources to training initiatives. The Manager of Lawyer Development organizes a variety of substantive and practice-skill oriented training sessions throughout the year. Recent topics have included workshops on communication skills, deposition techniques, working with experts, financial accounting, and examining witnesses. The firm also encourages associates to improve their skills and increase their knowledge through external programs as well.

When associates arrive at the firm, they are assigned to a mentor and an associate advisor. As discussed above, the mentor's role is to help the associate define and pursue professional goals and assist the associate within the firm. The associate's advisor's role is to introduce the new associate to the firm, facilitate introductions, and provide the "inside scoop" about various aspects of the firm. The Manager of Lawyer Development also meets informally with associates to discuss career and firm-related issues.
