National Law Journal Names Miller & Chevalier Chair Marianna Dyson One of Washington's Most Influential Women Lawyers

Washington, D.C., June 28, 2010 – Miller & Chevalier Chartered today announced that Marianna Dyson has been selected as one of Washington’s Most Influential Women Lawyers by The National Law Journal.

The impressive 2010 list recognizes women who set the legal agenda in the nation’s capital and includes 33 lawyers from private firms, government, and advocacy and trade groups. According to The National Law Journal, "These are power players, and they were selected for work that places them in an elite tier."

"In Washington, these are women whose power and legal acumen commands the respect of their peers regardless of gender," said David Brown, editor in chief of The National Law Journal.

Since becoming Chair of Miller & Chevalier in the spring of 2007, Dyson and the Executive Committee have been committed to maintaining the firm’s smaller size, which they feel provides real benefits both to clients and firm lawyers, while continuing to invest strategically in the firm’s focused platform. Miller & Chevalier has core practices in the areas of Tax, Employee Benefits, International Law and Business, Complex Litigation, and Government Affairs. Dyson said, "...that decision has been met with "enthusiastic" client support. They like the idea of having a smaller, more flexible firm working for them." She continued, "We have stuck to our knitting so far, and it’s really paid off."

In addition to her role as Chair, Dyson practices in the Employee Benefits area with a particular focus on payroll tax and fringe benefits. Dyson previously served as the Special Assistant for Fringe Benefits and as a Senior Attorney in the Office of Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Associate Chief Counsel (Employee Benefits and Exempt Organizations) (now Tax Exempt & Government Entities).
