Washington, DC, May 3, 2016 -- Miller & Chevalier Chartered is pleased to announce that Jonathan D. Kossak was selected as the recipient of the Maryland State Bar Association's 2016 Alex Fee Maryland Pro Bono Service Award. This award is sponsored by the Pro Bono Resource Center of Maryland and recognizes members of the Young Lawyers Section who are making a significant contribution to the delivery of pro bono civil legal services to Maryland's poor.
Kossak's selection for the award was due to his representation of indigent clients in Maryland, Washington, DC and Virginia, in a variety of matters ranging from landlord and tenant disputes to wrongful murder convictions, most notably of which he helped achieve exoneration on behalf of his client who spent more than 29 years in prison.
"This honor is well-deserved and Jonathan serves as a paradigm of a young lawyer with a keen focus on giving back to the community," said Kathleen Watch, Miller & Chevalier's Pro Bono Counsel. "We appreciate the Maryland State Bar's recognition of Jonathan's efforts on behalf of pro bono clients."
The Maryland State Bar Association will honor Kossak at a ceremony during its Annual Meeting on Saturday, June 18, 2016, at the Clarion Resort Fontainebleau Hotel in Ocean City, MD.
