Garrett Fenton Awarded Florida Bar President's 2015 Pro Bono Service Award

Washington, D.C., December 1, 2014 -- Miller & Chevalier Chartered announced today that firm Member Garrett A. Fenton was selected as the out-of-state recipient of The Florida Bar President's Pro Bono Service Award for 2015. This award recognizes members of the Florida Bar who have made an outstanding contribution to the community by providing legal services to individuals who otherwise cannot afford them. "Extraordinary lawyers are recognized around the state for their efforts above and beyond the call of duty to serve the legal community and Florida as a whole," according to the Florida Bar's award qualifications. The circuit committees select recipients from nominations submitted by individuals and groups, including churches, charitable social service organizations, local bar associations and other entities.

Fenton's practice is focused on employer-sponsored health and welfare benefits and healthcare reform implementation, and he has lent this experience to his representation of pro bono clients. Describing Fenton's selection, Florida Bar President Gregory Coleman said, "The time and professional expertise ... contributed in making legal representation available to those otherwise unable to afford it serve as an example of our profession at its best."

"We congratulate Garrett on this well-deserved honor," said Kathleen Wach, Miller & Chevalier's Pro Bono Counsel, "and appreciate the Florida Bar's recognition of his efforts on behalf of pro bono clients."

The Florida Bar and the Justices of the Supreme Court of Florida will honor Fenton at a ceremony on Thursday, January 29, 2015, at the Supreme Court Building in Tallahassee, FL.
