Miller & Chevalier Webinar: CISADA Two Years on -- Approaching Anniversary Marks Two Years of Mounting Sanctions Pressure Against Iran
06.20.12July 1, 2012 will be the two year anniversary of the Comprehensive Iran Sanctions, Accountability, and Divestment Act of 2010 (CISADA) amendments to the Iran Sanctions Act. Since the enactment of the CISADA amendments, the United States has steadily increased sanctions pressure on Iran, through unprecedented enforcement of the Iran Sanctions Act, imposition of additional OFAC sanctions, and passage of additional sanctions legislation. Further Congressional initiatives are pending, and both U.S. and foreign businesses must navigate an increasingly complex sanctions environment.
Miller & Chevalier’s Barbara Linney, a member of the firm's Export Controls and Economic Sanctions practice who has counseled clients in the maritime, oil and gas, logistics, and other industries on economic sanctions issues for more than twenty years, and Kuang Chiang, who recently joined the firm after serving as a license examining officer at OFAC, reviewed the current state of sanctions against Iran and shared their insights on future enforcement trends and pending legislative and regulatory developments.
