Economic Sanctions Webinar Series: Libya
Miller & Chevalier and Simmons & Simmons jointly hosted the second event in the Economic Sanctions Webinar Series, which focused on sanctions and export controls imposed on Libya by the United Kingdom, the United States, and the United Nations and addressed the myths about the sanctions and the major pitfalls.

- An overview of the sanctions regimes of the U.S., U.N., E.U., and U.K., including their purpose, structure, and approval/implementation timing
- The scope of the sanctions regimes, including the similarities and differences, compliance, exceptions, and license applications
- The political and policy issues surrounding the sanctions, including having additional designated persons in the E.U. and U.S., E.U. jurisdictions' adoption of different views on whether subsidiaries of certain designated entities are covered by the sanctions, self-implementation of the U.S. Executive Order, and the meaning of owned or controlled under the US sanctions
