Barry Pollack Quoted in Bloomberg Regarding Bid for Leniency in Madoff Sentencing

06.26.09Barry Pollack comments on Bernard Madoff’s bid for leniency in sentencing, despite the fact that Madoff has refused to name any accomplices, insisting that he acted alone. Pollack said [U.S. District Judge] Chin is likely to discount Madoff’s claim that he aided authorities. He doubts Madoff will win leniency from Chin. “It’s rare that a court will give a defendant credit for cooperation without the government’s agreeing that that cooperation rose to substantial assistance in the investigation or prosecution of others,” Pollack said.
