Marc Gerson Quoted in Tax Analysts Regarding Fading Likelihood of Tax Reform Following Coburn’s Drop from the "Gang of Six"

05.20.11Marc Gerson, former majority tax counsel to the House Ways & Means Committee, commented on the political environment under which tax reform is being considered during the Federal Bar Association Tax Section Young Lawyers Division meeting on May 18.  The general consensus is that hope for reform lies in some form of divided government in 2013 and in presidential leadership.  "Even though you have discussions about tax reform, there really isn't any discussion about the fundamental threshold issues," he said.  "The political dynamic is such that [tax reform] really isn't viable at this point."
