Miller & Chevalier's Legal Aid CulinAerie Cooking Competition Win Featured in Making Justice Real

"Miller & Chevalier Wins Generous Associates Campaign CulinAerie Cooking Competition -- Again!"
Making Justice Real

Miller & Chevalier competed in and won the Legal Aid Society's third annual Generous Associates CulinAerie Cooking Competition, marking the second year in a row the firm has earned the first-place title. Entry into the competition is based on overall performance in the 2015 Legal Aid Generous Associates Campaign, in which DC-based law firms collectively raised nearly $1.4 million to help fund its annual operating budget.

Judging the event were three local celebrities: Bonnie Benwick, Food Editor for The Washington Post; Patrice Olivan, White House guest chef and former Executive Chef at the French Embassy; and Teddy Folkman, Executive Chef and Co-Owner of Granville Moore and BAROAK. Nine law firms fielded a team of cooks to prepare a dish incorporating the year's secret ingredient: apples. Miller & Chevalier, wearing their winners' aprons from last year's competition, received the highest overall score for their dish, an "Apple and Pork Stack." Judges praised the chefs for using apples three ways, a Fuji apple base, caramelized honey crisp apples with beer, maple syrup and crispy bacon and an apple and Brussels sprout slaw on top with apple cider. The team also included an apple sangria on the side.

The firm's winning team included Employee Benefits Senior Associate Michael Chittenden, Tax Associates Nicholas Metcalf and Lisandra Ortiz and Litigation Associates Theresa Androff and Sarah Dowd.
