Andrew Herman Quoted Regarding Next Steps for Former Speaker Hastert Following Guilty Plea in USA Today

"Ex-speaker Dennis Hastert pleads guilty in hush money case"
USA Today
10.28.15Andrew Herman was quoted regarding next steps following former Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives Dennis Hastert's guilty plea to allegations of illegally structuring bank transactions, allegedly to pay hush money to an unidentified individual. Subsequent to the plea is sentencing, whereby the prosecution and defense will have the opportunity to present additional relevant information about Hastert's background and the charged offenses. Herman said it is possible the judge in this case will ask attorneys for further detail about the contact between Hastert and the unidentified individual. "It may have been part of the agreement in reaching the plea that (prosecutors) won't bring it up," he said. "The prosecutors may say (to Hastert's attorneys) they won't bring it up. But they may also be saying that 'We can't control what the court does, and if the court does bring it up we're going to have to respond.'"
