Welles Orr Quoted Regarding Prospects for International Trade Reform Following Midterms in Law360

"GOP Senate Victory To Boost Obama Trade Agenda"
11.05.14Welles Orr was quoted regarding the final years of the Obama administration combined with the Republican Senate takeover and their likely impact on international trade reform, including the renewal of Trade Promotion Authority. It appears that President Barack Obama is looking to use the last two years of the presidency to cement his legacy on global economic issues, a dynamic that bodes well for movement on trade matters even with the opposing party at the helm of both chambers, Orr said, adding that the looming end of the Obama administration can be an action-forcing event both for the White House and GOP lawmakers in the coming months. "I think this administration late in the game is coming to its senses that for its legacy, they better do the right thing on trade," Orr said. "There is also a willingness among the Republicans that they need to be seen as getting something done. Trade is something that they know should get done and the political equation shouldn't enter the fray. They could be seen as working on a bipartisan basis with the White House," he added.
