Linda Carlisle Comments on Suitability of Publicly Disclosed Information in International Tax Inquiry in Bermuda Sun

"Making tax info public not right, says expert"
Bermuda Sun
02.05.14Linda Carlisle commented on the public release of information regarding an international tax inquiry in filings at the Bermuda Supreme Court. Under a Tax Information Exchange Agreement (TIEA), countries may seek details of Bermuda-based financial entities, but rarely do so publicly. "I would think it was inappropriate for that information to be made public," Carlisle said. "It's a government-to-government communication and it's taxpayer information. When you file a return, you don't expect that information to be publicized. In the U.S., it's against the law."
