Barry Pollack was quoted regarding the $3.375 million settlement of his client, Martin Tankleff, with the state of New York in a false imprisonment suit. The settlement came the same week that the suit was to be tried in the state's Court of Claims. Tankleff served 17 years in prison after being wrongfully convicted of killing his parents in 1988. "No one can give Martin Tankleff back the nearly two decades he has spent in prison for a crime he did not commit," Pollack said. "Mr. Tankleff's supporters have known all along that he had absolutely nothing to do with the murder of his parents." A second suit filed by Tankleff against Suffolk County, NY, is pending in U.S. District Court.
