Barry Pollack Quoted in NPR Regarding the Prosecution of his Client, Jeffrey Sterling

"Justice's Rules Mean Reporter Need Not Testify, Lawyer Says"
NPR
07.18.13Barry Pollack is quoted regarding the prosecution of his client, former CIA agent Jeffrey Sterling, who is charged with leaking national defense information to New York Times reporter James Risen. The recent tightening of Department of Justice (DOJ) policies for issuing subpoenas to reporters in criminal investigations prompted a lawyer for Mr. Risen to support his argument that Risen is covered by a common-law reporter's privilege and need not testify about his source. Pollack said, "This is a fight between the Department of Justice and Mr. Risen. Jeffrey Sterling, who served his country admirably, remains in legal limbo as the Department of Justice continues to pursue a leak from a decade ago."
